Easy to follow cook book. I am not a vegetarian but the recipes all look great to me. My advice is to read the full recipe before starting to cook.

Help answer the question about Vegetarian Cooking
Ideas on where to find vegetarian cooking classes?
The hospital I work at has for the first time ever an option for a vegetarian Vegetarian Cooking cooking class but it isn't anything I can fit into my schedual. I need to find a place that has the classes in the evening so ideas please!I live in Michigan Berrien County to be a little more exact. I am about 4 miles or so north of South Bend Indiana!

Some people seem to think that vegetarian cookery is not nutritious but it plainly isn't true. You never know how good vegetarian cooking is until you have tried it. Luckily, vegetarian diets have not been lost in the passage of time, and are available to all who feel like trying them.

If you wish to adjust your diet in the most beneficial way try vegetarian cooking. There are a massive amount of recipes in vegetarian cookery that make it difficult to decide which are the most suitable for you. Fashions come and go, but vegetarian recipes are not new and have seldom been more popular.

Modern day chefs don't always concentrate their ideas on what is best for you to eat! An unreasonable amount of the suggestions Vegetarian Cooking of fashionable cooks and chefs seems more aimed at obesity than healthy eating. It often looks as if vegetarian cooking is outlawed by some celebrated chefs, which is a pity.

Vegetarian cookery really has so much to offer. Meat eating has been related to alarming stories about various illnesses. A number of terrible diseases have emanated from controversial and dubious farming methods. It now appears to be incredible to realize that vegetarian cows were fed food manufactured in part from dead cows. The dilemma is that it is not guaranteed that anything of the kind could never happen again.
Antibiotics are regularly administered to farm animals to prevent them contracting diseases that emanate from deplorable circumstances. Vegetarian cookery is one of the surest ways to excuse yourself from the often cruel treatment of animals. So, more vegetarians equals less cruelty to animals, and a healthier existence.

There is nothing wrong with vegetarian cooking, except for not doing it! It's not a race, and you can take some time prior to committing to vegetarianism altogether. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you really try. It is never too late to begin something new, but vegetarianism isn't new, it's just so healthy!

Vegetarian cooking is so amazing that no-one ought to need convincing of its virtues. Vegetarian cookery offers the means of becoming healthy, and many who use it, now understand what they were missing previously.

I have been a Mark Bittman fan for a few years now, mostly because of his television appearences, but I have not used his recipes until I purchased How to Cook Everything Vegetarian. Let me begin by saying I am not vegetarian however I do enjoy meatless meals and never met a vegetable I didn’t like. This is such a good technics book. If you can learn the basics he helps open the door to more veriations then I would ever imagine on my own. I am a pretty adventurous cook but I dislike overly complecated instructions. The instructions are straight forward and simple. Illustrations are also included and are great help. I have had this book for about a month and have used several recipes from it. It is my go-to cookbook, replacing the Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home: Fast and Easy recipes for Any Day.

What I like most about this book is it is not filled with glossy pictures. I am an amatuer cook, so the ‘great pictures are intimidating. it is easy to read and the author offers options and alternatives, plus substitutions.

I bought this book based on reviews from this site thinking that it would be a great addition to my cookbook collection. I was sadly disappointed. The first thing that I realized was that I found the layout to be frustrating. Secondly, I was really hoping to find fresh, HEALTHY veggie dishes. Unfortunately, as I flipped through the book, I began to see several dishes that I would never make because of their ingredients. I try to really hard to stay close to whole, simple foods – and this just didn’t cut it for me. I’m sending it back tomorrow.

With all that being said, I think that anyone who is looking to entertain would love this book. Many of the recipes seemed intimidating, but sound as if they would be very impressive for a crowd. If your looking for a go to book for vegetable dishes that will “wow” people, I think that you will be pleased.

I tried some of the bread and vegetable soups. Liked this book and I use it more as reference. Good book to have.

Back in the early 1990s, when my oldest son was heading off to college and going through a vegetarian phase, I bought him a copy of a Moosewood Restaurant cookbook. He loved it and the pages are by now appropriately stained, torn and frayed, even though he put vegetarianism behind him before he graduated college. Now, some twenty years later, the Moosewood Collective still survives and this is the twelfth cookbook they’ve published. If you need more information about this legendary Ithaca, NY restaurant and food emporium, you can find it at [...]. The newest cookbook focuses on “cooking for health,” although this is the theme of almost all their books. I’ve only cooked a few recipes from the book with mixed results, so this review is somewhat tentative. And also, I mostly cook Italian food so some of the dishes here, like Watercress and Cauliflower Soup, and Scattered Sushi Salad (a deconstructed vegetarian California roll) seem designed to have you leave the table hungry. But the two Italian recipes I tried, Stracciatella, a kind of Italian version of Egg Drop soup, and Tuscan Harvest Soup, a specifically Tuscan minestrone, were flavorful and nourishing. I’ll return to this review when I’ve cooked more, but meanwhile I’d say it’s a good, but not great, vegetarian cook book.

We’re not vegetarians but we only eat meat once or twice a week. I borrowed this cookbook from the library and I had to own it. The recipes are easy and well presented. There is a variety of cuisines and meal types- soups, stews, burgers, pastas, etc., along with menu suggestions. Most of the recipes produce more than 4 servings so we have leftovers to take for lunch. The recipes use a wide variety of vegetables and grains and don’t rely too much on eggs and cheese. In hardcover, this would make a great housewarming or bridal shower gift

This is my clear favorite of the Moosewood books. It has also become, along with Bryanna Clark Grogan’s books, the cookbook I turn to most often.

The recipes in ‘Cooking for Health’ are precisely the way I eat on good days – and the way I’d like to eat *every day*. I’m getting closer to that ideal now, in part thanks to this cookbook. The recipes I’ve tried have been delicious, and clearly written.

I give it my highest recommendation.

I checked this book out at the library. I had to buy it. Its normal food for Vegetarians. Not weird ingredients. I am a new Vegetarian and use to normal foods. This is perfect. It even makes suggests of things to go along with that item to make a complete meal. Lots of handy reference info as well. I love Moosewood cookbooks. This is one of my favorites of theirs. Be sure to check out their other ones as well. If you are a Vegan, this book makes suggestions on how to alter recipes to make Vegan. I have looked at so many Veg. cookbooks as I have made this change in our family’s diet. This is a favorite!

I like this book because it uses different spices that I would normally not have used, to create different flavors. There aren’t too many great south indian cook books around – so I’d recommend this one.

A well-designed book, its recipes are simple, authentic and remind me of my grandma’s cooking. I like the layout and colour scheme. I use this book as a gift and whomever I have gifted this to, they are always delighted with it.

Really tasty recipes. Easy to follow. I have tried most of the dishes and it came out really well. Highly recommended.

This book is so beautifully written and the recipes are fairly easy to follow. The photos are amazing-great job. Made a few dishes so far and they turned on delicious.

This is the first cookbook for pressure cooking (ordered along with our first pressure cooker) in our house and we were pleasantly surprised. Book has good reference material. It explains basics of presurre cooking and gives a table of cooking times for certain foods. So far, we have tried only three recipes, and all three came out amazing. Can’t wait to try more.
