I did not purchase this book from Amazon (although I absolutely love Amazon) however felt very compelled to comment. I made the Angel Food Cake for a family dinner party and was completely shocked to learn after the fact that the Angel Food Cake recipe has a terrible misprint. I’ve never made Angel Food Cake from scratch before so I was a bit ignorant about the ingredients. When I put my batter into the pan, something just didn’t seem right. Well, come to find out the recipe called for 2 egg whites when in fact it should have been 12! I went to another CL cookbook that had the exact same recipe but called for 12 egg whites. I called the company plus emailed them and never received a response. How dissappointing for a cookbook as well known as CL. If it hadn’t been for the misprint and lack of response from the company, I would have rated this product higher. Anyone else’s book have this misprint?

I had read about this book in a newspaper review and it piqued my interest. I ordered and and it is all the newspaper review said it was, plus more. its logically organized and is very easy to use by veteran chefs or by someone just learning. My only beef with the book is one of the rivets had come loose upon arrival. Overall, lots of good recipes, with detailed instructions.

The content of the product is great…it’s just how it came to me that was up in the air for me. Lots of the pgs came bent over about 2inches. But, other than the quality of the product…the rest was good.

It has a lot of good ideas. A lot of the recipes has stuff in it I’ve never heard of or wouldn’t have around. Other than that, I love the lay out of the cookbook and it does have a lot of low calorie recipes.

This cookbook is awesome. I really like to figure out how to cook foods with lower fat, calories and all that without compromising on taste. The book has the greatest recipes as well as the greatest advice on how to eat healthier. I highly recommend this product to anyone. Great basic cook book but with the bonus of healthier cooking.

This book is chock full of healthy, easy and quick recipes. My husband is on a low salt, low fat diet and this book is a great source of recipes. Often I just skip the salt additions and the recipes are still fabulous. There’s a huge variety of recipes to choose from and I LOVE using fresh ingredients. The recipes are tasty, fun and I’ll bet there’s a recipe somewhere in the book that will satisfy the fussiest eater. YUM!

I was very surprised that these “fresh food” recipes used so many canned and prepared food ingredients. Most of these recipes are so uninspired that they don’t require recipes at all. This book is for people who like to buy peeled and pre-cut vegetables.

For a struggling college student, this cookbook is FANTASTIC!! I’ve made roughly 13 dishes from this book and I feel like I’m continually checking off the different recipes that I want to try. I’ve never used a cookbook so much. Every new recipe I make turns into a household favorite and we make it again the next week. Now, the title is a little misleading, many of the ingredients aren’t “fresh” but frozen or canned. But for the sake of convenience and saving money, I’m not holding it against the makers of Cooking Light. For a quick and delicious meal that is flavorful, healthy, and wont break your bank, try this cookbook. It’s the best!!

This cookbook isn’t terrible, there are a few recipes that are good. But they shouldn’t use “Fresh Food” in the name. In order to make the recipes quick many of the recipes call for bottled and pre-made ingredients, even going so far as to recommend certain brands of store bought sauces. So, for example, a stir fry is just pre-cut vegetables with store bought stir fry sauce. I can do that on my own. I was hoping for quick versions of dishes that might otherwise be labor intensive.

I’ve been a fan of Cooking Light for a number of years, and this cookbook only reinforces my opinion. This is not a cookbook of recipes – though of course there are recipes included – but rather it is a book of the “ways to cook”: how to steam, poach, bake, etc, all manner of things. Wonderful book!

The only reason I didn’t give this a five is because I wish there were more recipes.
